My child was in 1st grade and I watched her struggle to read. At her reading level, her teacher told me that my child would have a tough time keeping up in 2nd grade and wanted to hold her back. I was devastated.😔
I was faced with the fact that my child struggled to read. I did not want her to be left behind.

I could see her frustration and struggle as she tried to read. At times, I can see her holding back tears.
I FELT my child’s PAIN. 😪
I too really felt frustrated and devastated.
It was sadly one of the lowest points of my parenting life. 😪
Feeling that we have failed her as parents, my husband and I also felt anxious and really stressed about the whole situation. However, we were definitely against holding back our daughter in 1st grade.
We committed to teaching her ourselves.
Fast forward a couple of months from the time I had that discouraging talk with my daughter’s 1st grade teacher, my child is now a fluent and fast reader.
In fact, her teacher was absolutely amazed and raved about my child’s turnaround and progress.
Yes, we are now proud parents of a child who can now read really well. In fact, she is really doing well in 2nd grade. Her overall standing is in the upper 5% of her whole class.
